Environmentally Friendly

without comments

100_0418.jpgThe other day, my wife brought home some items that she had purchased at Target.   When I looked at the plastic bag, the first thing that I noticed was on the side of bag.  There is a column titled “Reuse” and it contains “Ten Ways to Reuse Your Target Bag”.    I simply could not resist.  This was one time I couldn’t leave it alone.

1.  Tiny Trash Can Liner
Does this mean that the bag can be a tiny liner for any trash can size?  Maybe it means that it can be a liner for tiny trash cans.   Nope, I figured it out.  It is a liner for a trash can that is primarily for tiny trash.

2.  Doggy Duty
I’ve never actually seen this reference spelled this way so I guess Target is politically correct as well as environmentally friendly.  Either way, if you have to use this bag to collect it up, it probably was a duty both for you and your dog.

3.  Water Balloon
The next time your kids are quiet for a long time and then someone who is soggy knocks on your door, you’ll know what’s going on.  Offer them a target bag for their clothes.  (See #5)

4.  Road Trip Rubbish
Also doubles as a freezer bag for road kill.

5.  Soggy Laundry.
But only soggy laundry.  If it’s just damp or dirty but dry, you’re not allowed to use this bag.

6.  Ice Pack.
If you need this much ice, you might consider seeing a doctor.

7.  Toiletry Tote.
For those weekend camping trips where you have to collect up your own duty.  This also works for non stop #4’s.

8.  Kitty Litter Liner
Say that five times fast!   You would most likely find this bag out in the house somewhere being used as a cat toy.  Just follow the litter trail.

9.  Tomorrow’s Lunch Bag
Or maybe even yesterday’s lunch!  :D

10.  Care Package Padding
This would be a dual usage.  Use this bag to pad the care package for our troops in Iraq and then they can re-use the bag as well.  (See #3)

There is an eleventh use that Target wasn’t counting on.   It is to satisfy the warped sense of humor of someone with a little bit of time on their hands and a blog to write.

Christmas Time Arrives

with one comment

nativity2.jpg

As we enter this Christmas season, let us all remember the real reason that this special holiday is celebrated.  This is the time of year when folks are a little friendlier, they smile a little more and a whistle can be detected on the lips of most everyone you meet.  We celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and because of this season, the Spirit indwells all of mankind.  People display love for their neighbor even though they may not know why.  We await Christ’s birth through a season of advent, which is defined as ”an arrival that has been awaited”.

This year as we celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, let us give praise and thanks for the wonderful gift of God in Jesus Christ.   Let us also not forget that while we celebrate his birth, we are also in a continuing season of Advent as we await Christ’s return to earth.

I can’t wait to wake up on that morning!
