Standing At The Crossroads ~ A Meme
I took the Happy challenge and I stood at the crossroads. I spoke to God about what I wanted him to do in my life this year and asked him to speak to me so that we could be on the same page. After all, in the end, if what I’m doing is not the will of God, what purpose does it serve? This was a long process as I didn’t expect to get an answer right away which really leads into my number one thing that I would like to see God do in my life this year.
1. Take my impatience away from me and don’t give it back.
One of the biggest lessons in this life has always been an issue of patience for me. My patience deficit is higher than the budget deficit of the U.S. Government. As much as I hate to admit it, I have always wanted what I wanted and I wanted it now. I didn’t have time to wait. This deficit has also led into bleed over deficit in the areas of temperment, expectations of others, an “ungodly” desire for advancement, and an easier path to judgment. I want to be a more patient person; one who can look at an ugly situation through the eyes of Jesus, with perspective of the bigger picture, love and forgiveness. I don’t want to pass on this ugly trait to my son.
The other two answers came to me in the form of music.
2. Show Me The Way
One of my all time favorite songs is by the rock group Styx and I hadn’t heard the song for some time. This morning as I got out of the shower, I found that my wife had “borrowed”, as she said, my IPod. The song on was “Show Me The Way” from The Greatest Hits. Allow me to share some of the lyrics with you.
Every night I say a prayer in the hope that there’s a heaven
But everyday, I’m more confused as the saints turn into sinners
All the heroes and legends I knew as a child have fallen to idols of clay
And I feel this empty place inside so afraid I’ve lost my faith
This has happened to me more and more recently. As I seek to become more like Jesus and as I yearn to know more and more about God, I am led to look outside of what I have known already. The more I seek, the more I feel that I am outgrowing those who taught me to begin with. Is it my own pride or are do they have their feet so deeply entrenched that they can’t go anywhere? So God please show me the way. Just as it says in the song:
Take me tonight to the mountain and take my confusion away
3. Say What You Want To Say
I want to be constantly reminded by God that He uses me just the way I am. That means every little twisted fiber of my being is the person that God wants me to be in worship to him; “in spirit and in truth” . I want to be told daily that I don’t have to be someone that I’m not. I don’t have to put on a show. God loves me that way that I am, no he created me to be the way I am for his purpose. So I would like God to say what he wants to say through me and the way he wants to say it.
Now what about you? What do you want to see God do in your life this year? Everybody who reads this is tagged. Don’t feel obligated to write on this at all but if you feel so led, that is totally awesome!!
Here are the rules:
1. Answer the question either on your own blog or in the comments section of this one if you don’t have a blog.
2. Tag whoever you want.
3. Post a comment here and at the original post.
Let’s check back every few months and revisit our entries and see how we’re doing!

Mornin’, Night Owl!
I’m glad this was so thought-provoking for you.
What great goals… I will definitely be praying for you. I can so identify with the patience thing… so not my strong suit, either. Which may explain why so often God’s first answer to me about anything is “wait…” *sigh* and yes, that’s an exaggeration, but sometimes it doesn’t feel like one!
Here’s to a great year.
Cheers!

Happy ~ God likes to make me wait too. I’m starting to get used to it.
No worries about the UK lingo. Thanks for the prayers as well; I can use all I can get nowadays.
Sicarii ~ I look forward to reading your thoughts on this subject. I really like the ones that are self-reflective. That is as long as we can be honest with ourselves and put it out there for all to see. We never know who will learn from what we do or do not do.

Hey, Mike.
You rock.
I’m a ‘Styx’ fan too.
Great meme…but thanks for not tagging me.
I’m so tired……God is helping dig deeper and deeper into myself…pulling up roots..
Be blessed, my friend…

Hi Che ~ I love Styx! Always have, always will. This meme was a little hard for me because I really had to dig deep to see what God wants. I can see that he is also helping you dig deeper. Your last few posts have been so honest and thought provoking. I continue to pray for your journey and discovery.
And to answer your last sentence, I am blessed because you’re my friend. Thank you!!
